Suck UK Sun Jar LED Solar Light, Pink Overviews

The Sun Jar is made with a traditional Mason jar and high tech energy efficient lighting. Captured inside the jar are a highly efficient solar cell, a rechargeable battery and a low energy LED lamp. When the jar is placed in sunlight, the solar cell creates an electrical current that charges the battery over a few hours. This energy is then used at night to power the LED lamp inside the jar. The light is diffused by the frosted jar and gives the appearance of sunlight emitting from the jar (warm coloured LED lights are used to give a more natural and warm light). You may have noticed that there is no switch on for the sun jar in fact there are no visible controls at all there is a clever light sensor inside that automatically activates the lights when it gets dark or lights are turned out.* Mason Jars are not only beautiful but by their very nature they are completely water tight so the Sun Jar can happily be left outside in any weather conditions. A perfect garden light or night light for a kids bedroom. Remember that the Sun Jars need direct sunshine to work. Leave the Sun Jar outside or in a sunny window in direct sunlight for several hours to charge, (electric light indoors is not bright enough). Bad weather is bad news for Sun Jars. You may find that in winter or cloudy weather your Sun Jar illuminates for less time than normal, or even not at all. This is because your Sun Jar requires the Sun to re-charge. For improved results, leave the Sun Jar switched off (switch up) whilst charging. Simply switch it to the on position (switch down) when you would like it to glow. This conserves battery life and will leave it to illuminate when you need it to. If the weather has been particularly bad, as a last resort you can also charge the batteries in a normal battery charger. Remember that there is an override switch inside the lid to turn off the light at night and conserve battery life.

There are a few solar powered lights out there, most of them for outdoor gardens. The main problem with too many of them, this one in particular, is the cost-cutting cheap rechargeable batteries they come with. When given an average two window sunny summer day exposure, the lamp will glow a pleasing blue light when it gets dark... for about 15 minutes. For the same amount of money, you can get a more effective garden lamp, also solar charged, and if you get one where you can easily replace the rechargable battery (they all always come with the cheapest batteries), you'll get a more useful longer lasting shine from an average sunny day charge. Just don't put the outdoor stand or pole on it and you can use it like this indoor lamp, only for longer than 15 minutes.

Yep, I bought a "sun jar" as a gift for myself and my family. Yes, I placed it in DIRECT SUNLIGHT for at least 8 hours. It fades out after about 10 min. A worthless, useless, and ridiculous purchase. I wasted my money. I hope those who read this take my word for it and don't do the same. A disappointment.UPDATE:Forget what I said before. The sun jar came with a rather low level double AA battery from an off-label company. I ended up using a higher level energizer battery and the difference is almost like night and day. Wow. Use a lithium battery and this jar will run long and bright.OR, get the latest generation of energizer (no I don't work for energizer) rechargeable batteries. I bought a new recharger and new batteries...charged them to their limit, then transferred to the sun jar. It ran for days in my bedroom window.I recommend this product. Seriously.BTW: The maker suggests you lift the lid and turn the jar off when not in use. If you are a scatter-brain like me and forget to switch it off to preserve the battery life, no worries. In fact, just letting it charge up then turn on when it gets dark doesn't seem to have any negative effects. At least none that I could tell.In the end: I recommend getting this for yourself and your family and friends (along with some brand name AA batteries)

It does exactly as it says - it charges all day long in my windowsill and I turn it on as I crawl into bed at night so I don't bump into anything - it's usually starting to fade right as I'm falling asleep so it does only last for 15-20 minutes, but that's perfect for me! :)

This is one of the neatest gifts, emitting a soft moon glow during the night by harvesting the energy for it during the day in the sunlight. The jar, with the old timey latching cover which encloses the switch, has a frosted coating that makes the moonglow so soft during the night. To those of us who remember "Goodnight Moon" from the children's books, this is truly an enjoyable item to have.

It is a good product all around. The usual fast shipping, excellent customer service, and mediocre product... But I do love it all in all. The battery that comes with it is a bit shammy so i replaced it with an energizer rechargeable. And the top is frosted like the rest making it hard to let enough sunlight in to recharge the battery fully in one day, I replaced the top with a completely clear one that I got from an old storage jar in my cabinet. It works great now! I am probably going to buy one or three more to even things out ;)

The Moon Solar Jar and the Sun Solar Jar are both worthless - they light intermittently at best for short amounts of time - flicker then go out. Don't waste your money! Very disappointing for the kids!

Wow, talk about junk. It is a wonderful, albeit overpriced, concept. If it delivered on the concept, well I would hardly complain about the price. The fact is, every component is sub par and, not surprisingly, the result is ... total junk.Seriously, for less than $10 a 6th grader could go to radio shack and construct a far superior product than this. In fact, given the shoddy components, the cheap battery and poor wiring, I would rate this as a ripoff which Amazon should investigate.

This is overall a great product! If you replace the included battery with a name-brand batter you will get better results.

I actually bought this for my boyfriend to go along with his other gifts. It works great and is so cool. The only thing is you have to leave it in direct sunlight for a while to charge the solar panel up inside. Unfortunately we haven't had much sun lol. But we did get to use it around Christmas and New Year and it worked wonderful. Now that the clouds and snow are gone I think I'll run back to the house and sat it outside to charge up. Highly recommend this to anyone who likes cool gadgets! :) ThanksEmily WilkersonMontgomery/Luverne, Alabama

I bought this item as a Christmas present for my roommate. He loves it! He lets it sit on his bedroom windowsill all day to charge and then enjoys the light that radiates from it at night.
