PROS:-Bright, soft-white light (like a halogen bulb: 3,000k) and actually has a WIDE-BEAM flood pattern (40 degrees) -- Most are narrow (25 degrees).-Dimmable (unlike most CFL's (compact fluorescent twist bulbs). However, because these are low wattage bulbs, you need to replace your analog incandescent dimmer with a digital dimmer made for LED's or CFL's, like Lutron DVWCL-153PH-WH Diva Dimmable CFL/LED Dimmer with Wallplate, White. Otherwise this bulb may flicker or only dim a partway.-NO WARM UP TIME! Flip the switch and they are FULL BRIGHTNESS! They don't need several minutes to warm-up like CFL's. I have one in a recessed can over my front porch and even in the coldest of nights (10 degrees F.) they are full brightness as soon as they turn on. This is a huge advantage over CFL bulbs.CONS:-It is NOT "Instant-On" as it's advertised. After flipping the switch, it takes about 1/2 a second for them to illuminate. But this is par for the course (for now), all comparable LED bulbs on the market have the same delay.BOTTOM LINE:-These are expensive, but you get what you pay for. I tried Utilitech and it started flickering after a month. Sylvania is one of the global leaders in LED technology. Expect the price to continue to drop as the technology advances.
I've heard of these bulbs, so I tried them. Liked them a lot! They do a great job of lighting. Well packed and shipped quickly by Kiva Books. JLH
I purchased one of these lights at my Lowe's store. The light it gives off is "Awesome". Before this light, my wife would complain about the poor lighting for reading. Now she says the print "Jumps" off the pages. So I bought three more bulbs from Amazon and am totally satisfied. Plus they are a lot cheaper here than in Lowe's. The amount of time these bulbs are supposed to last, and the "LITTLE"amount of power used for these bulbs, makes it worth looking into purchasing these bulbs.
I must say I am impressed at these bulbs. Yes, they are expensive, but the hours of service are tremendous. I have found many CFL bulbs do not live up to expectations, but LED seems to be a much more reliable technology in terms of product life. I have NEVER had to replace an LED bulb in any product in which I use them. In all fairness, this is the first time I have used an LED to provide interior lighting. I'm using these bulbs in my kitchen to replace dimmable CFLs I bought about a year ago in recessed fixtures. They are far brighter, more focused, and whiter in color temperature. Much better for a kitchen. And less light spillage, also. Beautiful, bright focused light. I didn't like the price tag, but long term these bulbs will last many years and provide beautiful focused light, and I consider it worth the investment for my overhead lights in my food preparation area.
Whoever wrote that this was made in "communist China" didn't read the packaging! It is made in Mexico. It lasts 50,000 hours. 2x more than all other screw in LED's ! a breakthrough. I look forward to using more of these.
I bought eight of these for my flood lighting in my dining room. They provide adequate lighting and save us quite a bit on electricity costs. Highly recommended.
Lamp is dimmable.Color rendition is good. For maximum safety, it is best that your fixture is tested for LED use.
