Customer Reviews
What a disaster - the pool had multiple leaks and the ring kept deflating - sending hundreds of gallons of water onto my lawn. After weeks of trying to patch and get the pool up and running - I gave up. Customer service personnel are among the rudest I have ever spoken to - one hung up on me and the supervisor actually raised his voice to me and told me that they actually don't warranty the liner, only the pump, that I should read all the paperwork (even though they sent me the paperwork to return the liner). It's August and I still don't have my replacement pool - great summer fun ! I have a dead patch of grass - a ladder and a pump.
THIS IS OUR 7TH YEAR OWNING AN INTEX POOL AND WE ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT!! FOR THE MONEY, IT IS A FANTASTIC RECREATIONAL POOL! NEXT YEAR WE HOPE TO GRADUATE FROM A 15' TO AN 18' POOL. ONE OF THE BEST BUYS WE EVER MADE FOR THE CHILDREN.
Got this thing delivered, but stalled a week on setting it up because I had read the reviews that say you have to put it on a "completely level surface". Kids and wife got tired of waiting so I just set it up. We don't live on a slope or anything, but the ground isn't completely level, and the pool is fine. I don't know if it will last until next summer, but so far it's been wonderful! The cover, which I also hesitated to use after reading complaints is just fine also. I love this thing!! Only caveat I can offer is that the width is 15 feet at the bottom, about 12 feet at the top, and at max depth the water only goes to 41 inches, not 48. These two things have effected my enjoyment absolutely NONE.
I read many reviews on these intex pumps, and the problem that seems to plague them is a cheaply made plastic impeller that moves (pumps) the water. So listen up folks... if you buy a replacement pump, or even buy a pool set for the first time, BEFORE you even use the pump for the first time, take it apart until you can remove the impeller. This is pretty simple requiring only about 4 or 5 screws be removed... just make sure you pay attention to how it comes apart (especially the washers around the impeller). Then go down to walmart, home depot, lowes, or any auto parts store and buy some EPOXY. This should be two different liquids (or gels) that come in two different tubes that you must mix together. This stuff is SUPER STRONG, and most are rated for 2,500 to 3,500 lbs per square inch of strength... like steel almost. So what your going to do is get a small paint brush, and "paint" the impeller with epoxy, making a SUPER STRONG coat over the cheap plastic. Just make sure you don't get any on the inside of the hole in the center of the impeller where it slides onto the metal rod. Allow it 24 hours to dry (depending on what type of epoxy you use), and then reassemble the pump. I guarantee this will save you money and headaches in the long run. Also if any other plastic parts break on the pump, you can use this epoxy to fix/repair/strengthen them as well.
Was surprised that the pool has survived yet another winter in the shed and is now set up for the 4th year. Definitely worth the $200 paid. The pump makes a bit of noise now, probably the bearings, but it's still running. Getting the pool cleaned and dry for storage is a hassle, but may be the reason we're on season 4. Filters and chemicals can be a bit pricey but a necessity. I buy the filters online about $4 each figure one every 2 weeks. When they get clogged I spray them off with the hose that a buy a couple extra days.
IF YOU DO NOT HAVE AN ABSOLUTELY, PERFECTLY, TOTALLY LEVEL SPOT FOR THIS POOL, IT WILL NOT WORK!!!!! WE HAD TO BUILD A SPOT!!!! THIS IS THE SECOND YEAR WE HAVE USED THE POOL AND IT HAS LASTED THROUGH A LOT OF ROUGH WATER PLAY.
We purchased this pool 3 years ago and it is still going strong. My husband is not the outdoorsman most guys are, so I have had to put this pool up myself each year. It is better if 2 people do it, but it can definitely be done by one adult. After smoothing out the bottom, blowing up the ring, and attaching the filter tubes, the pool is ready to fill. Since it is on the larger side, it takes several hours to fill even with 2 hoses going. During the season, I maintain it with the chemicals and check it frequently. My only complaint is that I don't think that the filter system works well enough. I change the filter every 2 weeks and even wash it off in between, and I still have trouble keeping the pool crystal clear. Algae tends to form on around the edges and sides and I have to shock and brush it off (which is hard to do from outside the pool). The vacuum that comes with it, does a fair job with sucking stuff up. The ladder is pretty sturdy for one person at a time. The skimmer could have finer mesh since the tiny bugs flow right through it. When the season is over, I drain it, deflate the ring, let it dry, and fold it back up. I still try and squeeze it in the original box!I do want to note that our ground is not 100% level. One side is about 5 inches difference. What I did was add some sand under the lower side. It still is lower, but is not noticeable when you are out of the water and I have yet to have an overflow problem. The reason we have the pool is for our 8 year old son. I credit the pool for allowing him to learn to swim. He could easily touch and enjoyed cooling off on hot days. For the price, it can't be beat.
