The X-Spot 170 handy spot light is powered by a CREE XR-E White LED. The X-Spot uses a high efficiency CREE LED that virtually immune to failure since there is no filament to burn out or break, that provides six different light outputs - 100% max brightness at 125 lumens penetrate up to 180 meters (590 feet). The X-Spot comes with three different modes - High (125 lumens), Low (35 lumens) and Flashing. At HIGH, the spotlight have a runtime of 40 hours; At LOW, runtime is a whopping 470 hours. This spot light is great for jobsite, construction, or dark working area. The X-Spot also comes with a shoulder strap for convenience. Three 1.5V D-size battery is required for this spotlight (not included). The spotlight also features with a safety lock, prevent unwanted on of off activation. The body is made with durable soft rubberized material, head unit is shock resistant.

First off, I got this on one of their Daily Deals for a mere twenty bucks.Secondly, its only barely worth that much. People who paid full price were ripped off. The box clearly states its only 125 lumens on high power. Right off the bat thats false advertising from Amazon but they refused to admit the mistake and made me pay return shipping. That high setting supposedly runs for 60 hours but I barely got 24. False advertising from the company. They also state on the box that the low setting is a mere 35 lumens. I tried both and honestly they seem very similar. If you were hoping for a dim, long lasting nightlight in addition to the bright spotlight, you will be sorely disappointed. It does have a CREE LED but frankly it was one of the weakest CREE's I've ever seen in my life. Made all the more poignant by it needing 3 D cells and not lasting as long as claimed. Thanks to heat sinks on the inside it does run quite cool.The body is nice but not particularly sturdy. Folks who paid full price for this will wonder where their money went. The handle is hollow and light but that makes it easy to stand upright and use as a flood lamp for a tent or cabin. Straps are weak and would likely break or pull loose if you were to carry this around all day.The switch actually works quite well. You only need to tap it once to cycle through the modes you like. No holding it down, and there is a lock to keep it from accidentally switching modes or turning off.I guess this would be a fine cheap light to keep in your car tool kit for late night engine work or if you had to chase a lost dog through a park. Would not trust my life to it though, or use it for regular nighttime work nor serious search and rescue. If you accept the idea of burning up expensive D-cells (which would end up costing more than the lamp on a long trip) then I suppose its OK. But frankly you can do much better in both the spotlight and flashlight category. Get something with either a dedicated rechargeable lithium ion pack, or one that takes a bunch of AA's and use rechargeable's. Much cheaper over the long run.
