If only th bulb was a little shorter, it sticks about 1" past the trim ring of my recessed light. It will flicker a little when the dimmer is turned low and it is still warming up but after the first few seconds there are no problems, the flourescent bulb I bought does the same thing. The only other wierd affect I've noticed from this is that the fan blades look like they have a strobe light on them when the light is dimmed, I can't notice this other than when I look at the room fan.
I ended up using solar landscape lighting in our front yard in quite a few areas. I needed front porch lights to try and match the color of the solar lights out front and these matched up perfectly. Hard to find, but the yellowish lights we had did not look right when the landscape lighting came on and these fit right in. Very good quality and easy to install. I have had no issues with any buzzing. I use these on a very dim setting at night. Would recommend...
These replaced standard floods located in "cans" over my kitchen counter. With standard bulbs, I was usually down to one light in a couple of weeks. The "frame" is all metal, each bulb probably weighs over a pound (and probably has some kind of transformer inside). They fit perfectly, and work great with the old school dimmer on the circuit. Like all LED's the light has more of a blue hue. They don't cover quite as broad an area as the incandescent bulbs, nor do I think they are quite as bright. But if they last more than a couple weeks, I will be a happy camper.
I bought 4 of these to install into recessed light cans that take R30 bulbs. Dimmer used is a standard Lutron Diva dimmer for incandescent. Solidly built, these bulbs have a heft to them, but not so heavy that I'd worry about putting them in a recessed ceiling light. They fit nicely, though at about 1" longer than the standard R30 halogens they were replacing, they do protrude out a bit more. The light is a very bright, cool white, as the 4100K temperature would indicate. It's almost bluish, especially when placed side-by-side to similar LEDs or incandescent that put out light closer to 3000K.They dim nicely, all the way down to near dark with a very slight buzzing audible at the very low ends, but I was expecting that. All this would be great if that's all I had to report. There is however a significant downside. These LED bulbs produce a very noticeable flicker when placed on dimmer switches. As noted above, I used standard Lutron Diva dimmers, don't know the specific model number, but they have a capacity of 120V, 600W. At even full brightness, there is a significant and constant flicker. Note that this only occurs when these bulbs are placed on dimmer switches. I've thus moved these bulbs to recessed lights on non-dimmable switches. In summary, great product if you need LEDs that are not on dimmable switches. If you plan to dim, this product isn't for you.
