I have been through several Pur faucet mounts.. Each of them cracked and blew up. While Pur was good about replacing them, I was tired of the hassle and switched to the Brita faucet mount. They were pathetic as well. They kept getting detached from the faucet because they used these cheap plastic couplings. With that said, I am happy to report that this new model uses a metal coupling. We've had it up and running for the past week and it incredibly solid with no sign of leakage. Most importantly, it looks like it's going to stay on.I feel is that everything we've used up on until now has been a beta test. This one new release feels like they ironed out the kinks. I will post an update if I find out otherwise.UPDATE: 12/20/2011We're in our 3rd month and this is still working fine. No blow-ups or leaks.UPDATE 1/4/2012Ugggh. I'm sorry to report that it cracked and sprung a leak last week. The good news is that Brita is sending over a replacement PLUS, I have viable theory on how to prevent it. Even though the faucet connector is metal, the internal components are still plastic. The unit seems to be designed to withstand a certain level of pressure. My recommendation (which I will follow) is to minimize the pressure by going easy on how far turn the faucet when you're in filter mode.

I've used the older brita model for several years and was very happy with it. Sadly the indicator light stopped working on the base so I bought this new model. I hate it. Maybe I got a dud, but I cannot see the green light to tell me its working. AND the water pressure is horrible--about half of what the old one was. I may try a PUR. I'm so disappointed. This one is NOT an improvement. Why did they mess with a good thing?

Easy to install, works fine but the flow of water that comes from the filter is not enoughI installed it in 5 mn and now we have been using it for several weeks without any problem

First of all it's a slick design and easy to install no doubt. However, if you don't press down hard enough and turn on the water, you will get splashed. But that's not the reason for the one star review. This thing simply doesn't filter anything and adds carbon particles into the water. How do I know? I went and bought a TDS water tester and it showd a high score. My tap water is 149 my filtered water is 150, I even followed the instructions and let it run for 30 seconds. My opinion of faucet filters is that the water runs too fast to filter anything. Take this money and invest it in a water tester, so you can avoid getting scammed by something shiny.

Well Brita does one thing well and one thing alone; They filter water brilliantly. Out of the box the green indicator did not work. The plastic connector thingy used to bridge the facet to the filter unit was made of a flimsy plastic and was small, it was difficult to put in also. But it does filter the water better than my previous waterpik so yeah, I'll keep it for now...

I see a lot of reviewers are having trouble with the base popping off. I sure know what they're talking about, but I've been using Brita tap filters for at least 10 years and never have this trouble anymore if I follow these rules. And I don't use the metal connector, I use the plastic one without any trouble. (I think the metal one will wear the threads on my faucet, so I avoid it.) Also, I'm using the white one, not this chrome one. This one is thicker at the base for some reason, but I think these tips will still apply.1. When you install the base onto the faucet, hold the base in a very level position. As you turn the ring to screw it on, you should feel no resistance at all. If you do, then you're not holding the base in the correct position. It has to be perfectly lined up.2. Install the base with the filter as far back on the left side as possible, so that it rests against the left side of your sink's spigot. This will prevent it from moving around when you move the lever to switch into filter mode.3. Use care when switching the settings. When you switch into filter mode make sure the water is off! Do not switch while the water is running. This causes too much sudden pressure on the filter base.4. When you switch from one setting to the other, steady the base with one hand while switching with the other, and do so in such a way that the base doesn't twist or torque at all.5. Watch for any hint of leaking around the connection area, and when it looks the slightest bit less than tight, it's time for a little maintenance. Remove the filter base and clean the screen inside (it gets clogged periodically and this is what causes pressure build up. If you're using the adapter, before replacing the base, be sure to sure to check that it is still screwed in tight. Also be sure the little washer on it is in place.6. Last but not least, never run the water faster than it can come out the filter! The filter can only filter about 3/8 inch stream of water. To run the tap any faster than this causes unnecessary water pressure.7. One more tip for getting more life out of your cartridges. Have a water pitcher or 2, and filter a lot at once. This reduces the amount of time you run water through it to clean it before getting your drinking water, and reduces the amount of stuff for it to filter out per amount of water that goes through it.If you follow these rules, you'll be golden :)

I bought this as a gift for my son. He was elated. I am going to order one for myself. I have the pitcher and it has given me over ten years of good service.
