I went with carpet tiles because my room/study is a small upstairs room packed with objects that would have to be moved. If I went with regular carpet I would not only have to pay for the carpet and installation but I would have had to hire someone to haul everything downstairs and then back up again once the carpet was installed.The beauty of these tiles is that they not only look like carpet but I was able to do the job alone in about eight hours. This includes moving the furniture back and forth and ripping up the old carpet and pad and disposing of them. The main problem I have with these tiles is that they are quite expensive for the quality. The material is not shoddy but there are some small problems that add up. Some of tiles have a slight bow on one edge. These irregularities were probably less than one 32nd of an inch but it was still enough to make the seam stand out. Also, there were a lot of loose fibers generated by the cutting process that must be cleaned off before you lay the tile or they can cause problems. Sometimes the seam was more noticeable because some of the fibers were missing along the edge. This could be due to a dull cutting-edge. Another problem is that of the four boxes I bought there appeared to be two boxes from two different batches, resulting in a slight color difference.On paper, my review sounds terrible, but these were very small differences that I can live with. All in all I am happy with the results. the non-adhesive system is wonderful.The reason that I gave three stars instead of four was that I think that $25 per yard is quite pricey for this quality.
This is my second time to install this carpet. The first was a small bedroom at my mother in laws and it turned out great. Once you vaccuum you cannot see the tile lines. I am now installing it in a very large bedroom and once again it is turning out beautiful. It feels so good to walk on and just looks so great. I definately recommend this for a do it yourselfer.
