I like the feature that allows me to continue to use my computer and TV without worrying about losing my work or frying my 50" flat screen! The design make it easy to use and maintain and the automatic weekly test give me piece of mind that it will work when I really need it.
We just got through hurricane Irene - we were without power for 3 days.We had installed the generator last year - they were trials and tribulationsto get it installed correctly - fortunately we had our company electricianwho is not cheap - but very good assist. Once we got it up and runningand made sure it was set to propane - generator works like a champ.The past 3 days (ran continuously for 50 hours) it earned its keep.Impressive efficient fuel usage.Keep in mind to limit how much load is put on. We had 2 fridgessome lights, and computer system (needed to work from the house).Keep up the good work Generac.
The Generac 10,000 watt standby generator is a very well put together product. I was impressed with the cabinet design, how compact it was, the ease of installation, and the function of the transfer switch. Unlike what is said in another review, all standby generators from Generac are made in the U.S. The engine has a feature called full pressure lubrication which extends engine life and allows the product to have a longer maintenance interval. I like that because it means lower maintenance costs. I like the external indicator lights that show you what is happening and I love the clean power feature which means the unit will power your sensitive electronics like flat screen TV's without an issue. Oh, did I mention it's quiet too!
I have not had a power outage yet, so I cant speak to how it works for that. But so far, I am greatly impressed. The construction of the unit is very well done. Its robust and has a bunch of insulation/sound dampening material. Installation was easy since my inlaw is an electrician. Its big and heavy! Make sure you plan out how you are going to move it into location. I used 2 person moving straps I got on Amazon.com which was good for a short distance lift.Also, its pretty quiet. When inside, i compare it to having less noise than a push lawn mower. Its not noticable in my living room when the TV is on. It does a 10 minute self test once a week and I hardly ever hear it.
If you didn't buy the product, don't bother reviewing. I have owned two (two locations). Generac builds these in Wisconsin not China. So get your facts straight before you blast one of the USA's best run manufacturing companies. I would not hesitate to buy another.
They have bad engines- Valve seats start going bad in three month- Hard to make Generac stand by their warranty--
Received my generator Sept 1st. Ran 6.8 hours before the Generator Shorted OUT. Complete failure of Rotor and Stator. Shorted Windings. Hard to find someone to work on unit. No one want to touch them because Generac won't stand behind warranty.
