Klein Tools 5102S Tool Bag Shoulder Strap Kit for 5102 and 5105 Canvas Bags Reviews
the strap is more than adaquit but the rivets that I received were not any good and pulled out after a short time. I had to buy nuts and bolts to fix the rivets and I moved one strap to the other side of the bag to even out the load. This fix has worked fine so far.
The Klein Tools Tool Bag Shoulder Strap Kit 5102S for 5102 & 5105 Canvas Bags strap is a great price for the many uses and the strength of the leather.I bought it to use in combination with two Black Rapid Straps Fasten-R2 for R Series Straps. and two Manfrotto 088LBP Adapter 1/4-Inch- 20 to 3/8-Inch with flange to add a shoulder strap to my Taylor Guitar case, similar to the Breedlove shoulder strap hooks. The combination of these items works great. I (fearfully and carefully) drilled two holes in the guitar case, inserted the adapter (screwing it in with a tight squeeze from the inside out) and then screwed the R2 Fastener from the outside onto the adapter through the hole creating a grip on the case between the two. The strap then hooks onto the R2.The good:1. The strap is a bit stiff, but it seems to be very strong leather. I hope that over time it will soften.2. The hooks are very strong and I feel confident of holding the guitar with the strap and hook combination. The weaknesses:1. The hooks on the strap do not rotate, so they strap has to be installed with precision.2. The hooks of the strap cannot be replaced, which might be a problem over time.3. As someone else commented, the rivets for the D-Ring that comes with it seem week. I didn't even bother using them. I used my own invention with the other items mentioned above as I wanted it to look clean on the guitar case.4. The hooks are pretty wide and too big to use with the Black Rapid FastenR-3 Third Generation for R-Strap. If using with a small hook other than the D-Ring that came with it, it might not work.5. For my purposes, I wish the color was dark brown to match the case.Note: See pictures of the project and final result in the R2 review...
Let me start by saying that this strap 'kit' is a piece of garbage. I bought a Klein tool bag and it's bad enough that the bag doesn't already come with a strap. Not only that, but the strap has to be ordered separately and costs almost as much as the bag itself. ON TOP OF THAT, the strap doesn't simply attach, but has to be affixed with tools and hardware. FURTHERMORE, the hardware supplied with the strap is GARBAGE. The instructions were a joke, photocopied on a sheet of 8.5x11 that was cut in half and made no sense. I called Klein customer service for clarification THREE times and it took MORE THAN THREE WEEKS for them to come back to me with an answer. In the end, I went to Home Depot and bought (2) 3/16" x 1/4" binding post with screw by Crown Bolt and had to use a drill. Ridiculous. Don't even bother buying this item. Just buy the hardware from a hardware store and order a leather strap from ebay.
