General Pump Telescoping Pressure Washer Wand - 4000 PSI, 6ft. to 24ft. Length, Model# DLTG24 Reviews
This thing only weighs 14 lbs but once you extend it as I did to 18 feet you might as well be trying to hold up a 24 foot ext ladder with a gorilla sitting on top. This thing was everywhere I kinda had my on Charlie Chapplin comedy skit going in my front yard. I can not imagine extending this thing to its max length and add to that the weight of water along with the fact that the pressure wants to push it away from the house, I am worn out just thinking about it. I think the 12 foot wand with my extension ladder will be a better way to go it may not amuse the neighbors but hey.....
I've got lots of high gutters on my home and hate dragging out the extension ladder. Normal "consumer" gutter wands are designed to work with a regular garden hose and are much too short. This one extends to 24 feet! However, who really wants to use a pressure washer to clean gutters while all that wet muck rains down on you?My solution was to convert this for use with compressed air. Presto - dry leave go flying out of the gutters! The conversion is easy (it's rated for 3500psi after all!). The trigger value has regular pipe thread, as does the business end. Buy the gutter cleaning accessory for a couple bucks extra and you're good to go.NOTE: This thing is heavy. I'm over six foot and no weakling. However, I can't imagine using the wand fully extended with either air or a pressure washer. There is a stabilizing belt accessory that I would highly recommend for any more than casual use!!
It takes a while to figure out how to use the wand. The first time I used it I it got away from me and hit the power line to the house! The wand at the end is not at enough of an angle and was getting water under the siding which you are not supposed to do so I bent it to a 45 degree angle with a sledge and wood blocks. The trick to this thing is to use the force of the water to get the pressure wand in the air and control the direction. Make sure the handle is lined up opposite the wand, lift it off the ground and press the trigger. The water makes the wand much lighter. Once it's in the air you end up pushing down on it to keep it from going over. You should practice this where you can't damage anything.Don't release the trigger with the wand up in the air or it will drop like a rock before you can recover. I lower it to a few feet off the ground and then release the trigger. Be careful not to run out of gas with the wand in the air either! It's tough and tiring to use but once you get the hang of it, it beats the heck out of being at the top of a wet 32 extension ladder.I bought the waist belt too but unless you're out of shape don't bother. I used it for an hour and gave up on it.
I used the telescoping pressure washer wand on my Karcher G 2600 VH pressure washer to wash the end gables and chimney chase (both >20' high) of my house, and I was thoroughly satisified with all aspects of the wand. Before purchasing the wand, I had read one review lamenting the "heavy weight" of the wand. The wand's weight is attributable to it's quality construction, and, since I was looking for a good quality durable wand, that is what I got.
I agree with the prior review and would never have purchased if I would have read it first. It worked well on the first floor gutters. When I extended it for the second floor gutters, the thing was uncontrollable. It was so bad, I had my neighbor come over to give it a try for my own amusement. There is no way this can be used at the full 24 foot length. I would probably try to return it for a refund, but it would be to difficult to repackage and mail back.
Very high quality construction. The fittings required some teflon tape to make them quit leaking but they were of high quality so it was just business as usual with any type of plumbing. It feels like an industrial piece of gear and not a toy. While expensive I felt I got my money's worth. Not easy to use for more than an hour at a time. I'm 6'4 and pretty strong but this unit requires some muscle to use. The pressure on a long fulcrum makes it want to move around. It also requires strength when extended to move it where you want it.It will certainly wear you out. I felt like I did something after removing a bunch of mold from a 3 story house. One of the few options out there to clean a tall vinyl house that I could find short of ladders and scaffolding.Guys at the office are lining up to borrow it.
This item is horrible, it is so unstable at length that it is unusable. Any type of pressure through this at length makes it totally unusable. If you are going to use it to get to length and spray a mold killer, it works okay. Do not use to clear gutters with the attatchment, it does not work. I would return but it's 12 feet long. save yourself the trouble and hire some kid to pressure wash your house because all your going to do after you purchase this thing is feel a lot of regret.
