I ordered two of these heaters, they are just what I need with regards to functionality, safety, design, and cost. They were shipped quickly. One heater worked perfectly but the other made a rhythmic noise (sounded like an out of balance fan or something), so I exchanged it. It was replaced VERY quickly, the replacement unit does not make the sound in regular use, it's actually very quiet, but when you turn on the oscillation, there is a slight noise. This is not a function I will use frequently so I am keeping the unit. The other heater that I bought, after a week or so, stopped the oscillating function. I haven't bothered to try to trouble-shoot the problem, as this isn't a high priority for me. So in summation, I would get this heater if you want something quiet, safe, attractive, and economical. It creates enough heat for my office where I use it (20x20) You may have an return issue though and if oscillating is important, you may have some troubles to deal with.
This heater is what it is. It does a good job heating a 10 ft. by 10 ft. room that it well insulated when the outside temperature is 50 degrees. A bigger room (or an uninsulated room), or colder outside temperature - not so much so.A 12.5 amp (1500 watts at 120 volts) heater just isn't going to heat a 400 sq. ft. uninsulated room to the point where you have to strip down to your skivvies. But if you've got a 100 to 144 sq. ft. room that your central furnace doesn't keep as warm as the rest of the house, this should do you fine.
I've had this unit for a year. It remains fully functional and very useful as a room heater. I've dropped it a couple of times and no problems. I like the safety mechanism whereby it shuts off if not sitting on a flat surface; I'd rather not start any fires. The grill covering the heating element has small holes and therefore appears secure as far as not letting anything fly inside to cause a fire. I am not able to see any hot-red heating elements, unlike in some space heaters, which adds to the impression of safety. The heater has two warmth settings, and I mostly use the higher one and very rarely the cooler one. It also has a fan-only setting where no heat is imparted. The tall shape helps distribute the heat more evenly, I believe, as does the fact that it rotates. I rarely use the rotating function because I don't think it adds much to distributing the heat, but I don't really know since I rarely use this function. The unit is also very quiet.PROS:Price.Durability.Safety mechanisms.Linear standing shape helps distribute heat and takes up only a small footprint for storage in a corner of your closet.Quiet.CONS:The Low and Fan-only settings provide little added value.I picked this up by chance one day when I was in a supermarket and saw it marked down. As I was in need of a space heater, I decided to buy it. I wasn't sure how it was going to turn out and was going to return it if it didn't work out. This unit has worked out well for me for the price.
I thought it would be taller but the size works out and it doesn't get in the way. The low setting works very good for a small room. I am impressed with size and function but it's kinda noisy. Also, when you pick up the unit from the top where you would insert your fingers is wonky so it slips out of your hand and drops. Thought it would break but it turned out okay and still works.
The order was processed and delivered VERY quickly even though it was the super saver shipping. I ordered the heater for a relative who depends on space heaters to get adequate heat to the areas being used in a larger old house with high ceilings in Ohio. The heater does a very efficient job. I chose this one because it has the simple-to-use dial knobs and it has a shut off feature in case of being tipped over. Not all the ceramic heaters have that feature.
I bought two[2] heater towers & they heat the rooms so well that I don't have to bother turning up the thermostat. I would recomend this to anyone who wants to warm up fast.
