Solar Group PP600W00 Plastic Deluxe Mailbox Mounting Post with Cross Arm, White Reviews
I needed an attractive and easy to install post, as I had to get one up quickly. Our neighborhood has mostly brick mailboxes, so needed one substantial and nice enough to fit in. This one had a very nice style. We had an existing 4x4 wood post to cut to the recommended height. I am very disappointed with how flimsy it is. The plastic post only attaches to the wood post on two sides, because the plastic is much larger than the wood, and only two sides can touch at one time. So it flops back and forth when the wind blows and feels like it is going to bend when opening the mailbox. The box we got is nicer and heavier than a standard cheap box. There was not a weight limit in the instructions. The platform is already sagging, as the post is flexing inward where it connects.I had trusted the Rubbermaid name when I bought it, but in trying to contact customer support, I found that they do not manufacture or support this product. I emailed the company that does manufacture them, to see if they could recommend a way to fix it. I got NO RESPONSE. I give it more than one star because it is nice looking and might be good for someone who has a light box and doesn't live in the south where the sun is beating down softening plastic. If you do install it, I recommend reinforcing the base somehow with more than just the 4x4 interior post.
